The 17 Best Parenting Books (For Moms and Dads)
17 Books For Every Parent
The Best Parenting Books (or at least my favorites)
Positive Parenting By Rebecca Eanes
This book is such a fast read. It encourages so much introspection (which I think is characteristic of this parenting style…it starts with the parent) and gives a lot of practical examples. This was the first book I read on Positive Parenting :)
“Positive Parenting shows parents how to remain connected while still being the leader every child needs….Say goodbye to regrets and heartache, and hello to peace and connection. Your beautiful journey begins here.”
--Dr. Laura Markham, author of Peaceful Parent, Happy Kids, from the foreword
The Whole Brain Child By Daniel J Siegel and Tina Payne Bryson
Daniel Siegel is a licensed neuropsychiatrist. It’s amazing to know that the 12 strategies presented in this book are rooted in science.
“Siegel and Bryson reveal that an integrated brain with parts that cooperate in a coordinated and balanced manner creates a better understanding of self, stronger relationships, and success in school, among other benefits. With illustrations, charts, and even a handy ‘Refrigerator Sheet,’ the authors have made every effort to make brain science parent-friendly.”—Publishers Weekly
Wild At Heart By John Eldredge
This book really helped Dallin to see George as a beautiful young man full of potential with a wild heart that needs to be let free, guided, and directed rather than controlled or restrained. It’s written specifically for men. I haven’t read it, but Dallin loved it. It also talks at length about where to look for validation as a man and how true validation comes from Christ.
Eldredge believes that institutions can oppress a man's heart and keep society from benefiting from his fierce desire to love, do good, fight evil, and go beyond the limits. The exceptional writing and ideational balance (and a sensitive interpretation by Kelly Dolan) make this a compelling effort to integrate the hero's gritty nature with the public good.'
